Frozen

When pain is no more a dance
But an inland lake placid, all drops at rest
Like atoms in a copper cast cooling in its mould
A boring sky patternless on a cloudless spring day,
Pain is a frozen dance, an eternal cardiac arrest.

Something keeps me embraced, like air or water
Moulding me, stiffening me in my motion
Into an arrested note endless in a sea of music.
